2016 came with the promise of new music from The Voice star RaeLynn, and hopefully, this song, "If You Left It Up To Me" will be part of that collection of new music that RaeLynn is talking about.
With "If You Left It Up To Me," Raelynn brings in the best elements of her past music releases and expands on it. It's almost universally decided that "Careless" was the best song on her debut EP from last year, Me EP, and "If You left It Up To Me" is a more mature version of that song. The pop country production is not particularly edgy or pushing the boundaries of its genre label, which is surprisingly refreshing. This song pop country at its best, with youthful, but still somewhat mature lyrics that can appeal to a wide range of pop country fans. RaeLynn's performance is almost flawless, reiterating why she made it so far on The Voice her season, and also showing how much she has grown as an artist and a vocalist. There's a lot of hate directed towards RaeLynn in the country music industry, but this song defines her sound, and defines who she wants to be as an artist. With her debut album, RaeLynn should continue writing and recording songs like this one, and leave songs like "God Made Girls" and "Better Do It" in the past.
