This Labor Day, one song you should take a listen to with your free time is this new demo by Jenna McDaniel, titled "In The Sun." Written by McDaniel and fellow Song Suffragette Kalie Shorr, "In the Sun" is a mid tempo song produced by Shorr's producer Jason Afable.
The acoustic based song is more stripped down than some of McDaniel's other music, but it does echo the sound of "Losing Time," a track on McDaniel's most recent project, Puzzle. Shorr's harmonies are audible enough to tell it's her, and the sweetness of her voice contrasts well with McDaniel's slightly more edgy voice.
The song talks about not thinking with your head when it comes to love, and not hiding in the dark. But it also acknowledges how hard love can be, with McDaniel dreaming of world where "you don't break, you don't bruise, you just bend" and "nothing crumbles, nothing dies." The song in general is about following your heart, but Shorr and McDaniel reinvent the overused topic so it seems like something no one has done before.
