Madison Parks is an artist just beginning to show her fans and the industry what she can do. The first solo track from her was "I Met An Angel Today," an uplifting but mournful song about her meeting a boy who was ill. That was the introduction to the emotive side of her artistry, but this track is the introduction to her upbeat side. Appropriately titled "Crazy Like That," this song tells the story of a man who makes her act crazier than she normally does. Lyrically, this track is nothing special, but the love involved in the story makes it more than just another girl singing a bro-country song.
Production-wise, this song was done very well. The blatant banjo at the beginning, and before the verses roots the track in country music, but the slight editing on Parks' vocals and the upbeat choruses create a pop-influenced element, adding to the overall commercial appeal of the track.
Compared to her last song released, this is a step down lyrically, but a step up in commercial appeal. This song is something that could easily be on the radio, and one that could appeal to more people. But Parks has to make a decision whether she wants to make music that she know will do well commercially, or make the music that means a lot to her. It is a tough question to answer, but one that Parks will figure out with time.
Overall rating: 3 and 3/4 crowns
