“Little By Little” is country music’s introduction to Kelsey Lamb, but Lamb’s introduction to country music was through a female icon — Alison Krauss. “The first country song I fell in love with was Alison Krauss’s version of ‘When You Say Nothing At All,’” Lamb said. “I guess you could say that was the first time I really appreciated country music!” Krauss has remained a major influence on Lamb, along with Tim McGraw and a bit of an oddball: Avril Lavigne. Lamb said, “It’s a wide & random variety but I think that's what makes my music a little more unique.”
Despite the wide variety of influences, Lamb’s song sounds like it belongs on country radio. “I pulled a lot of influence from Blake Shelton’s production,” Lamb said when asked about the sound of “Little By Little.” “I just pulled a lot of inspiration from the male artists that are on the radio right now!”
Lamb said that country music “chose” her, not the other way around. “I’m not sure I really had a choice [in regards to pursuing a career in country music],” Lamb said. “The words...the melodies...the people, I fell in love with all of it! That's not to say that other genres aren't amazing as well, country music has just always been my safe place!”
“Little By Little” is Lamb’s debut single, but she’s thinking big. When asked where she hopefully sees herself ten years from now, Lamb listed off her goals. “Be a member of the Grand Ole Opry, have a few CMA's under my belt, be headlining my own tour... just to name a few. But, in reality, I just hope to be still doing exactly what I'm doing now, at a higher level & still loving every second of it!”
