Turn on the radio, and you won't hear the best of country music. This is becoming a known fact, and although some great talents are on the radio, a lot of the biggest talents in country music come from places one wouldn't necessarily think to look. In order to find those extremely talented young artists, sometimes one has to turn to mediums other than radio, by looking at Soundcloud or Youtube or other music sharing websites. Elly Cooke is an eighteen-year-old singer and songwriter, fresh out of high school. She posted her first video on YouTube a year ago, but she has one of the strongest female voices in the country music industry today.

Elly Cooke has covered a wide variety of songs on YouTube, from pop-country like Kelsea Ballerini and Lindsay Ell, to Christian music, like Lauren Daigle, to more classic country like the Dixie Chicks! Read on to learn a little more about Elly and her inspirations, her favorite moment in her career so far, and her future plans.
Queens of Country: Who are your biggest inspirations?
Elly Cooke: Taylor Swift, Hunter Hayes, and Lindsay Ell.
QoC: What is your favorite song you've ever covered?
EC: I have two favorites. "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Wide Open Spaces"!
QoC: What has been your favorite moment in your music career so far?
EC: Getting to open for Trent Harmon (winner of American Idol)!!!
QoC: How did you get into country music?
EC: The first music I remember listening to was George Strait, my dad used to play his CDs all the time!! Being introduced to country music at such a young age really influenced the kind of music I make now.
QoC: Any plans to release original music sometime in the future?
EC: YES!!! I definitely plan to release original music just as soon as I get some of my songs recorded!
