This song is special because of the paradox between Pelay's sweet vocals and the loud, rocky production. Southern rock is often characterized by powerful, gritty vocalists. Listen to The Cadillac Three, Eric Church, or Haley & Alexis Band as examples. But Pelay does not have gritty vocals. She has the sweet, but still powerful vocals of a mainstream country singer, or even a folk-pop singer. It is shocking the first listen, but grows on you. This truly sets Pelay apart, her ability to mesh modern country-pop with southern rock.
Pelay continues to impress. All of the tracks she has released in the last few months are all to be included on her EP, The Heart Decides. From the quality of the singles released, this is shaping up to be one incredible EP.
