With Friday marking the official last day of summer, here's some music that you should listen to before we get full into the swing of fall music releases. Check out a playlist, full of all the music mentioned at the bottom of the post!
GREAT SONGS:
"Temporary Feeling" by Hannah Ellis
Songwriter Hannah Ellis is breaking out into the performing scene with her new single, "Temporary Feeling." The genre-blending track has a little more in common with R&B than country, but the experimentation with the production paid off to create an interesting and catchy track. Be on the lookout for Ellis's new EP, coming soon.
"Nostalgia" by Emily Hackett
This is the song of the summer that came out just a little too late. "Nostalgia" is upbeat and fun, full of quirky, specific lyrics, everything you could ask for from a 'country song of the summer.'
"I've Done Love" by Jana Kramer
This is Kramer's first release since parting ways with her record label, and she did a hell of a good job defining herself through a song she didn't even write. If you know anything about Kramer's personal life, you know that she's been through a lot, and she's recently been opening up about it. This song is a perfect next step in Kramer's career, hopefully into some meaningful and personal songs.
"Wearing Me Out" by Karla Davis
This isn't a song for a country traditionalist, but Davis's funky, soulful new track is chock-full of great lyrics and a catchy melody. Davis is one of the most talented under-the-radar singers and songwriters in Nashville, and this song is only a glimpse into the great music she's been making recently.
"Cold Feet" by Tenille Arts
Summer isn't exactly the season for ballads, but this song is not a song to be overlooked, just because it might not be a song to blast with the top down. This may be the best vocal performance we've heard yet from Canadian singer-songwriter Arts, as she sings the story of a wedding that never happened. As for country story-songs, this is one of the best of the year.

GREAT ALBUMS:
On the Inside by Wildflowers
British band Wildflowers dropped this album in late August. The record is a mix of alt-country and peppy folk-rock, preaching the message of non-conformity. Key tracks include "Another Million Miles" and the title track.
Don't by Shelby Darrall
Darrall has been popping up on this website a lot in the recent months, and for good reason. Her EP is four songs of strong, interesting country pop that is a must-listen for any music fan. Key tracks include "Swim" and "Don't."
