Although Amanda Cooksey advertises herself as a pop/country singer, she's no Taylor Swift. She has a true country voice one that Swift never quite had. She could end up having crossover appeal later on, but she belongs in country music. The way her vocals can express the lyrics in a country song, and how country instruments compliment her voice so well are give away signs that she was born to be a country singer, not a pop singer, or even pop/country. Just country.
Amanda Cooksey has a voice like no other. It's not especially strong, not especially soft, but has that middle ground, where she can show so much emotion by just singing one note. Out of all the songs I've heard from her, this song expresses the beauty her voice has the most. The lyrics of this song are typical to a country song, and basically seem like they are mixtures of 12 different country songs on the radio. But, her vocals make the song seem so profound and do express the feeling of falling in love excellently. Where that shines through the most is during the pre-chorus, when she sings,
"Woah lets go, dance in the moonlight,
Woah let's make this an unforgettable night."
There's something about the way she sings these lines that transforms this song from 'just another country song' to something much more, and a song that expresses Cooksey's potential to be a huge country star.
Overall Rating: 4 crowns
