I'd originally planned to review Erica Bryan's current single, "This House is Haunted", but I've been so mesmerized by the beauty of this song lately, I knew I had to review it. "All Your Days and Nights" is the kind of song that Sarah McLachlan would make if she decided to go country. It has the beautiful lyrics that McLachlan is known for, and the style of music she tends to create. This track is a heartbreaking ballad, mixing Erica Bryan's country, folk, and pop music influences.
The track begins with just acoustic guitar plucking, and all of the focus on Bryan's vocals.
She croons,
"You don't look at me the same.
There's no spark, we've lost the flame."
She goes on to sing that she doesn't want much, but all she wants from this guy is all his days and nights, which is incredibly ironic because that's so much. It's ironic in a heartbreaking way though, because it's as if Bryan is almost giving up, by saying this untrue statement.
Bryan's vocals in this song have so much emotion in them. She has powerful vocals, but also an ability to express emotion so easily. That is what makes this song beautiful, because through the vocals, there's feeling that will touch any listener. This is the best song I've heard Bryan perform. It has the simplistic beauty that is rare in country music today, and separates Bryan from the other up and coming country artists.
Overall rating: 4 and a half crowns
